Q: Does insurance pay their portion all at once?
A: The same way patients pay their total treatment fee on a monthly basis, many insurance do over the course of treatment as well. Other insurances, will pay quarterly, and some even biannually.
Q: Will insurance automatically pay the maximum allowed?
A: Usually, but not always! Insurance will cover a percentage of the allowed amount UP TO a maximum. Whichever of the amounts is lowest.
Q: What is a Medically Necessary Clause?
A: This clause states that in order for the insurance to give out the orthodontic benefits, treatment must be needed to correct a severe condition. This type of treatment usually involves surgery. Dr. Ashley Smith and your treatment coordinator will be able to let you know if your treatment is medically necessary.
Q: Will insurance cover a replacement retainer?
